Steve Acland, President
Steve has spent over 20 years in retail marketing, corporate sales and market research, working with Canada's leading retailers, pharmaceutical and telecommunications companies. He began his career at Tandemar Research (now a division of Ipsos Reid), followed by senior sales and marketing roles in the telecommunications industry.
Since joining Geomedia in 1999, Steve has worked closely with national retailers to deliver successful advertising programs with measurable results.
Over the past several years, Steve has driven the transition of Geomedia from a niche business to Canada's leading targeted media company widely regarded as the best in its class. Steve has overseen the development of Geomedia's long-term strategic plan, built a leadership team and, with that team has improved service delivery and developed innovative products that improve their clients' competitive edge.
An active leader in the industry, Steve is a member of the Retail Advertising and Marketing Club of Canada (RAC) Board of Directors and a member of the Canadian Media Directors' Council (CMDC) and has chaired the annual RAC National Symposium from 2007 to 2011. He holds a Graduate Degree in Management from McGill University and a BA from Bishop's University.
Ted Naish, Vice-President
As Vice-President of Geomedia, Ted is responsible for analytic services from both a strategic and tactical perspective. He is widely considered a leading authority on geo-targeting.
Ted has over 18 years experience in consumer and retail marketing including 10 years developing unaddressed print advertising programs for many of Canada's largest retail print advertisers.
Ted first joined Geomedia in 1996 and went on to hold senior positions at CanWest MediaWorks
where he developed and managed the geomatics team that designed many of the data systems
used to organize distributor data for several media owner groups across Canada.
Since returning to Geomedia in 2007, he has led the redesign of Geomedia's proprietary
programs to develop innovative products and methodologies and secured their future scalability.
Recognized as an industry leader Mr. Naish speaks regularly at national conferences and
industry events.
Ted holds a Masters Degree in GIS from York University.
Michelle MacLeod, Director of Media Operations
Michelle is a maven of the newspaper industry. She has a unique lens in which to view the media landscape having tenure at a daily newspaper, corporate media buying centre, a magazine and now on the agency side. Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo. She spent 10+ years in the Circulation and Advertising departments at the Kitchener-Waterloo Record and also as a GIS Analyst with CanWest MediaWorks. Additional experience includes being the U.S. Retail Sales Coordinator at WeddingBells Magazine. She has held several positions over the past few years at Geomedia including Account Manager.
Sean Kinley, Director of Operations and Technology
Sean drives the technological vision and initiative of Geomedia. Sean is fluent in both English and geek speak. His innovative, pragmatic approach inspires results-oriented solutions centered on enterprise grade robustness. He and his team have a keen sense for how to leverage technology to its fullest. Sean joined the Geomedia team in 2005. He has 17 years of experience in technology and data management. Sean's proficiencies and responsibilities include strategic IT planning, infrastructure, development and delivery, with a focus on data integration, workflow and continual process improvement/efficiency. Prior to Geomedia, Sean's most recent role was as Vice-President, Information Technology for a Canadian-based financial firm.
